Pretty sad to leave Puerto and our tiny little place in La Punta. It’s the longest we’ve stayed anywhere ever (since quitting our jobs anyway). 🇲🇽 ☀️ ❤️ Already discussing when to go back... hopefully sans Corona, cuarentena, and closed beaches next time. 🌊 For now, we’re just enjoying air conditioning, trying not to overstay these tourist visas, and doing our best to avoid the virus on the way home! ✈️ #vivamexico #oaxaca #lapunta #puertoescondido #mexico #lapuntapuertoescondido

Normally, I’m pretty embarrassed of America as I watch from abroad. People ask what North Carolina is like, if they should visit, and I’ve responded with, “Well, it’s beautiful, but you’ll have to deal with some racism and homophobia.” (This was especially true after NC made international news for its beloved bathroom law.) But right now, it feels like we’re on the verge of real change. 🖤 It’s exciting, it’s scary, and I’m in support of those protesting. From outside the US, I’ll be listening, reading, donating, and voting (yeah, suck it, Trump, they let me vote ONLINE, I bet you hate that). #blackouttuesday

Our last friend is heading home from Mexico ✈️ bye Emma!!! ✈️ and now we shall social distance... except for Marko. He can never get away from me. 😬 It appears we’re in Mexico for the foreseeable future. (Could be worse, right? 🤷🏼‍♀️) Here in Puerto through mid-April and then, well, I guess we’ll have to figure things out!? 🇲🇽 It’s not too crazy here yet, but we’ll slowly stock up on groceries and hole up at our place... which is honestly what we do half the time anyway while we work. And quarantine isn’t so bad when you can go sit on the beach (for now). Found a place that serves margs, caipiroskas, and Pacifico - surprisingly tough beer to find here! - and created a nice little bar tab for ourselves.
